Sergio Agüero

Sergio Leonel Agüero del Castillo, known as Sergio Agüero or Kun Agüero, is an Argentine former professional footballer.

He played as a striker for Independiente, Atlético Madrid, Manchester City, Barcelona, and the Argentina national team. He retired in 2021 after being diagnosed with a heart condition.

Early life and youth career

Agüero was born in Buenos Aires and joined the youth system of Independiente as a child. He made his professional debut in 2003, becoming the youngest player to appear in the Argentine Primera División at the time.

Club career

Agüero began his senior career with Independiente, then moved to Atlético Madrid in 2006, where he established himself as one of Europe's leading young forwards. He transferred to Manchester City in 2011 and became the club's all-time leading goalscorer. He scored the title-winning goal for Manchester City against Queens Park Rangers on the final day of the 2011–12 Premier League season. He later joined Barcelona in 2021 but made only a brief competitive appearance before retiring.

International career

Agüero represented Argentina at youth and senior levels. He was part of the squad that won the 2021 Copa América.
