Tagore began acting as a teenager, making her debut in Satyajit Ray's *Apur Sansar* (1959). She worked in both Bengali art cinema and mainstream Hindi films, becoming a prominent figure in both industries. Her career includes acclaimed performances in films such as *Mausam*, *Aradhana*, *Amar Prem*, *Abar Aranye*, and *Gulmohar*.
