Early life

Michael Shawn Hickenbottom was born on July 22, 1965, and grew up in a military family before settling in San Antonio, Texas. He began training for professional wrestling before making his debut in 1984.

Professional wrestling career

Michaels became known in WWE as one of the promotion’s major stars, first as part of The Rockers and later as a singles performer. He won major titles, headlined major events, and became known for his performances at WrestleMania. He was a co-founder and original leader of D-Generation X, and won the Royal Rumble in 1995 and 1996. His WWE career highlights include championships such as WWE Champion, World Heavyweight Champion, Intercontinental Champion, European Champion, and World Tag Team Champion.

Return and later work

After retiring, Michaels returned to WWE in 2002 and wrestled until 2010. He later took on a backstage and developmental role with WWE, including work connected to NXT.
