Deleon was convicted of the 2004 killings of Thomas and Jackie Hawks and the 2003 killing of John Jarvi. Prosecutors said Deleon targeted the Hawks during a yacht sale and that the murders were committed for financial gain.

Sentencing

A California jury recommended the death penalty, and Orange County Superior Court Judge Frank Fasel imposed that sentence in April 2009. Deleon remained on death row at San Quentin State Prison.
