Early life and education

Sonia Benezra was born in Montreal, Quebec, on 25 September 1960 to a Moroccan mother and a Spanish father, and grew up in a Jewish household. She studied theatre at Concordia University before beginning her media career.

Broadcasting career

Benezra began her broadcast career at MusiquePlus and was described as the first VJ hired there in 1986. She later hosted a daily live talk show on TQS for six years, featuring francophone and anglophone guests. Her career has also included programs on MusiMax, MuchMusic, MuchMoreMusic, TVA, and CHMP-FM.

Work beyond television

In addition to television and radio, Benezra has worked as an actress and clothing designer. She is reported to be fluent in Spanish, French, and English, and has been involved in breast cancer charity fundraising in the Montreal area.
