Stockton Rush was born in 1962 in California and later studied engineering at Princeton University. Sources describe him as an American engineer and businessman from a prominent family.

OceanGate

Rush co-founded OceanGate in 2009 and became its CEO. The company focused on deep-sea exploration and later offered missions to the Titanic wreck.

Titan disaster

In June 2023, the Titan submersible lost contact during a dive to the Titanic wreck and later was confirmed to have imploded. Rush died with four other occupants in the disaster. The incident drew major Canadian attention because the submersible disappeared in the North Atlantic near Newfoundland, and Canadian vessels and aircraft were involved in the search response.
