Early life and background

Levy was born on September 23, 1956. She is Jewish and has described herself as conservative. She studied at the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management and at Carleton University.

Journalism career

Levy worked as a columnist and investigative reporter for the Toronto Sun and Postmedia. Her coverage focused on municipal politics, public spending, homelessness, and social policy in Ontario. She reported from Toronto City Hall and Queen’s Park.

Political activity

In 2009, Levy ran as the Progressive Conservative candidate in the Toronto–St. Paul’s provincial by-election. She finished second in the race.

Later work and public profile

Levy announced her retirement from the Toronto Sun in June 2021. She later contributed to True North Media. She is the author of the memoir Underdog: Confessions of a Right-Wing Gay Jewish Muckraker. Levy is openly gay and came out in 2007. She married Denise Alexander in 2009.
