He has represented India in ODIs and T20Is and has played domestic and franchise cricket for teams including Haryana, Rajasthan Royals, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, and Punjab Kings. He is known for his wicket-taking in limited-overs cricket and for becoming the first Indian bowler to take a five-wicket haul in a T20I.

Early life and background

Yuzvendra Chahal was born in Jind, Haryana, on 23 July 1990. Before becoming established in cricket, he was also known as a youth chess player.

Domestic and franchise cricket

Chahal has played domestic cricket for Haryana and has represented several franchise and county sides. His IPL career included long spells with Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Rajasthan Royals before joining Punjab Kings. He also played for Mumbai Indians and has appeared in county cricket for Kent and Northamptonshire.

International career

Chahal made his ODI and T20I debuts for India in 2016 against Zimbabwe. He became notable for his performances in limited-overs cricket, including a record T20I spell against England in 2017 where he took 6/25, becoming the first Indian bowler to achieve a five-wicket haul in a T20I.

Records and achievements

Chahal has been among India’s leading wicket-takers in T20Is and became the first bowler in IPL history to reach 200 wickets. He also won the ICC Men's T20I Cricketer of the Year award in 2017.
