Early life

Bobby Orr was born in Parry Sound, Ontario, in 1948. He developed into a standout junior player before joining the NHL as a teenager.

NHL career

Orr spent most of his career with the Boston Bruins, later playing for the Chicago Black Hawks. He became known for combining elite defensive play with unusual offensive production for a defenceman. He was the first defenceman to lead the NHL in scoring. He won two Stanley Cups with Boston, in 1970 and 1972.

Awards and records

Orr won multiple major NHL honours, including becoming the only defenceman to win the Art Ross Trophy twice. Sources also describe him as a record-setting defenceman in points and assists. He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1979, the youngest player at that time.

Post-playing career

After retiring, Orr moved into business and sports agency work and remained involved in hockey-related charitable activity. He worked in business and player representation through the Orr Hockey Group.
