Early life and background

Brittany Starr Bowe was born on February 24, 1988, in Ocala, Florida. She began competing in inline speed skating before switching to ice speed skating in 2010.

Speed skating career

Bowe became one of the leading American long-track speed skaters, competing in the 500 m, 1000 m, and 1500 m events as well as team pursuit. Her career has included medals at major championships and World Cup-level success.

Olympic career

Bowe represented the United States at the Winter Olympics in 2014, 2018, 2022, and 2026. She won her first Olympic medal, a bronze, in the team pursuit event at the 2018 PyeongChang Games. At the 2022 Beijing Games, she earned a bronze medal in the women's 1000 m. She also served as a U.S. flag bearer at the opening ceremony of the 2022 Winter Olympics.
