Manon Massé was born on 22 May 1963 in Windsor, Quebec. Before entering electoral politics, she worked as a community organizer, an experience that shaped her focus on social activism. Her involvement in community work led to her co-founding the political movement Option citoyenne, a precursor to her later role in Québec solidaire.

Political career

Massé became a candidate for Québec solidaire early in the party's history and was elected as the Member of the National Assembly (MNA) for Sainte-Marie–Saint-Jacques in the 2014 general election. She has held the seat continuously since then. Her political career has been marked by her consistency in representing her riding and advancing progressive causes within the legislature.

Leadership in Québec solidaire

From 2017 to 2023, Massé served as co-spokesperson for Québec solidaire, making her one of the party's main public faces and a prominent figure in Quebec politics. After the 2022 provincial election, she was assigned responsibility for files including First Nations and Inuit relations, social services, homelessness, and LGBTQ+ issues. In 2025, she announced that she would not seek re-election in the 2026 provincial election.
