Rashida Jones

Rashida Jones is an American actress, writer, producer, and director known for her work in television and film.

Rashida Leah Jones (born February 25, 1976) is an American actress, writer, producer, and director. She is best known for her roles in *The Office*, *Parks and Recreation*, and *Angie Tribeca*, and she directed the documentary *Quincy* about her father, Quincy Jones.

Early life and education

Rashida Jones was born in Los Angeles on February 25, 1976. She is the daughter of musician Quincy Jones and actress Peggy Lipton. She graduated from Harvard University.

Acting career

Jones became widely known for television roles in *Boston Public*, *The Office*, *Parks and Recreation*, and *Angie Tribeca*. Her film credits include *I Love You, Man*, *The Social Network*, *Our Idiot Brother*, *The Muppets*, and *Celeste and Jesse Forever*. In 2025, she starred in the *Black Mirror* episode "Common People" and received an Emmy nomination for that performance.

Writing and producing

Jones has worked as a writer and producer as well as an actor. She co-wrote and starred in *Celeste and Jesse Forever* and contributed story work to *Toy Story 4*. She was also involved in producing and directing *Hot Girls Wanted* and *Hot Girls Wanted: Turned On*.

Documentary work

In 2018, Jones directed *Quincy*, a documentary about her father, Quincy Jones. The film premiered on Netflix and won the Grammy Award for Best Music Film in 2019.
