Steve Nash was born in Johannesburg, South Africa, on February 7, 1974, and moved to Canada as a child. He grew up in British Columbia and played college basketball at Santa Clara University, where he developed into a top prospect.

NBA playing career

Nash played for the Phoenix Suns, Dallas Mavericks, and Los Angeles Lakers over an 18-season NBA career. He became known for elite passing, shooting, and offensive control, and he won two MVP awards with Phoenix. He was an eight-time All-Star and was drafted 15th overall by the Phoenix Suns in the 1996 NBA draft.

Coaching career

After his playing career, Nash entered coaching and became head coach of the Brooklyn Nets in 2020. He held the role for two seasons before leaving in 2022.
