Early life and education

Boucher was born in Notre-Dame-du-Lac, Quebec. He later studied at McGill University and the Université de Montréal, where his academic background included history, biosystems engineering, and sport psychology.

Coaching career

Boucher moved into coaching after his playing career and worked in junior and professional hockey in Canada before reaching the NHL. His head-coaching stops include the Tampa Bay Lightning (2010–2013), Hamilton Bulldogs (AHL), Ottawa Senators (2016–2019), SC Bern (Switzerland, 2014–15), and Avangard Omsk (KHL, hired in late 2024 on a contract through the 2025–26 season). He has also held roles in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.

International work
