He previously worked in the Toronto Maple Leafs organization, including as general manager from 2018 to 2023, and earlier held executive roles with the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds and Toronto Marlies.

Early life and education

Dubas was born in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, and attended Brock University, where he studied sports management. He began working in hockey at a young age and later moved into player-agent and scouting roles before becoming an executive.

OHL and early executive career

Dubas worked with the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds in the OHL, eventually becoming the team’s general manager. His work in junior hockey helped establish his reputation as a young executive with an analytics-focused approach.

Toronto Maple Leafs

Dubas joined the Maple Leafs organization in 2014 as assistant general manager. He became general manager in 2018 and remained in that role until 2023, also contributing to the development of the Toronto Marlies. At the time of his hiring by the Maple Leafs, he was among the youngest general managers in NHL history.

Pittsburgh Penguins

In 2023, Dubas joined the Pittsburgh Penguins as president of hockey operations and later assumed general manager responsibilities. He continues to oversee the club’s hockey operations.

International hockey

Dubas has also worked with Hockey Canada in management roles for international events, including the World Championship and other national team assignments. He has held roles with Team Canada, including player personnel and general manager duties for international tournaments.
