Geography

Sorrento is situated in the Southern Interior of British Columbia on the southern shoreline of Shuswap Lake. It is part of the Columbia-Shuswap Regional District and lies along a major east-west transportation corridor.

History

The settlement was originally called Trapper's Landing, a name associated with a meeting place for Indigenous trappers returning with furs. It was later renamed Sorrento by resident J.R. Kinghorn.
